2023-02-28: Hide-and-seek with the rapidly changing sea ice on the Gulf of Bothnia
Only one week left of the cruise! A few things that happened last week:
– We played hide-and-seek with the rapidly changing sea ice on the Gulf of Bothnia, with confused telephone and computer constantly switching between Swedish and Finnish time (Turns out that Finnish time is Swedish time + 1)
– A few Ran deployments with some cool under-the-sea-ice data!
– Many drone deployments collecting optical and infrared red sea ice footage
– Many CTD casts to measure physical and chemical properties of the Baltic Sea

Sunday night to Monday morning we stayed at Umeå for crew change and Stian and Øyvind from Kongsberg are now onboard with us as well! What’s more? We saw northern light on Sunday at Umeå port, and last night during Ran recovery! Pretty magical experience! (Although one shall be honest and clarify that the aurora looked much more colorful in our cameras and phones than with naked eyes 😂)
