Innovation and research of underwater robotics

Next generation
Underwater systems

SMaRC – Swedish Maritime Robotics Centre – is a national cross-disciplinary industrial research centre for maritime robotics. It performs research on solutions that contribute to the transition to autonomous intelligent underwater systems.

The centre focuses on four research disciplines – autonomy, endurance, perception and communication – to develop next-generation maritime robotics for safeguarding society and environmental sensing.

Our AUVs, Sensors & Vehicles

SAM – Our small and agile AUV

SAM is a compact and cost-effective underwater robot developed as part of SMaRC. It is designed to push the limits of what can be achieved with a small, easily portable AUV. SAM can be carried by a single person, and all necessary equipment fits neatly into a standard estate car, making it highly mobile and versatile for a range of missions.

LoLo – Our Long Range & Long Endurance AUV

LoLo is a long-range, long-endurance AUV developed within SMaRC, known for its modularity and exceptional flexibility in both payload and control options. Its large payload bay allows for quick and easy customisation to suit a variety of missions. With the ability to host an additional onboard computer, LoLo provides SMaRC scientists with a powerful platform for seamless integration and testing during research missions.
